Sahiwal firing: Shehbaz demands formation of parliamentary committee
Shehbaz Sharif lashed out at the government over Sahiwal tragedy.
ISLAMABD (Dunya News) – Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif today (Monday) called for the suspension of regular proceedings in the lower house to hold a debate on the Sahiwal tragedy.
While addressing the National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif demanded formation of parliamentary committee to know the truth behind Sahiwal tragedy.
"The worst brutality has taken place in Sahiwal. A house committee should be made to review the JIT report on the incident," he suggested.
Shehbaz Sharif said he does not want to do politics on the matter but no such example of barabarism can be found that has taken place in Sahiwal.
He said the government changed statements one after another - first it was said that those killed in CTD encounter were terrorists and car’s windows were tinted but whole world saw massacre of innocent civilians.

Shehbaz Sharif said every person was grieved over the tragic incident but Prime Minister Imran Khan posted just one message on Twitter during 24 hours. He must give answer to the nation over this incident, he demanded.
He warned that till the government does not reveal the facts of the case before the nation, the opposition parties would not let them proceed with the regular business of the National Assembly.
PML-N leader Khwaja Asif said the Sahiwal incident has added the sense of insecurity among people. “Those who should eliminate terrorism have themselves become terrorists,” Asif added.
"The Government of Punjab has become a party in the [Sahiwal encounter] matter," he said.
The former defence minister also demanded that the government constitute an empowered parliamentary committee to probe the incident.
A preliminary investigation is due to report back on Tuesday, while the senate has also called for a judicial inquiry. Cases of murder and terrorism have now been registered against 16 unidentified counter terrorism officials.
