LAHORE (Dunya News) – The relatives of victims of an alleged encounter by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Sahiwal have demanded justice, declining compensation offered by the government, on Monday.

According to details, Jalil, brother of Khalil (victim), has refused to take compensation for their loss.

He said that no one has contacted him for compensation so far, however, if government offers Rs2 crore they would not accept it.

Jalil claimed that if justice is not provided he would suicide along with children.

The heirs of Zeeshan (victim) also demanded Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat to step down from his post. They said that the minister declared the deceased a terrorist, adding that the protest would continue until the justice is delivered.

Earlier, the victims of Sahiwal incident, Khalil, his wife Nabeela and daughter Areeba, were laid to rest in a graveyard in Kahna, on Sunday.

It is pertinent here to mention that the CTD officials had killed four people, including a couple and their teenage daughter, and injured a teenage boy in a suspicious ‘encounter’ on GT Road near Sahiwal.

The incident had triggered a nationwide outcry that prompted the government to take the security officials into custody and order an investigation into the incident.

The suspects were identified as Shahid Jabbar and Abdul Rehman travelling towards Sahiwal and were reportedly in possession of arms and explosives, CTD stated.

The counter-terrorism officials claimed that the operation was conducted to capture an ‘Islamic State (IS) commander’ on a tip off by an intelligence agency.
