KARACHI (Dunya News) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Dr Farooq Sattar on Thursday appeared before an investigative committee probing the murder of ex-MNA Syed Ali Raza Abidi.

The committee comprised of SSP Pir Muahmmad Shah, SSP Tariq Dharejo and ASP Sohai Aziz questioned Sattar for about half an hour.

The committee says that more MQM leaders can also be summoned for interrogation.

At least four suspects have been arrested for the murder of Ali Raza Abidi. Sindh Home Ministry has also decided to launch an investigation against private security company giving services to Abidi.

According to police, the personal security guards of Abidi were untrained while they were having insufficient weapons and were deployed with only five cartridges.

Slain leader’s security guards said that they remained unsuccessful in opening the fire despite loading the chamber for several times.

Abidi, 46, was shot dead outside his home in Khayaban-i-Ghazi, DHA, on December 25 moments after he returned from his workplace.

The CCTV showed two men on a motorbike emerged in the scene chasing Abidi’s vehicle.

One of them got off the bike and fired multiple shots at him at a very close range the moment he stopped his four-wheeler at the entrance of his house.
