The party alleges political victimisation at the hands of the new government.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senior PPP leaders on Friday decried money laundering cases against former president and party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, alleging political victimisation at the hands of the new government.

Senator Maula Bux Chandio said the PPP was being victimised as it protested rigging in the recently held general election and called out the government on its policies.

Former interior minister Rehman Malik and lawmaker Naz Baloch were unanimous in their views that the PPP had faced court cases before and it would continue to do so out of respect for the judiciary.

Asif Ali Zardari, his sister Faryal Talpur and their associates are accused of sending Rs35 billion abroad through fake accounts, which are being investigated by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

They have appeared multiple times before banking court.

A sessions court in Karachi has declared Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur absconders in the case while Omni Group Chairman Anwar Majeed along with his son Abdul Ghani have been sent to prison on the orders of the Supreme Court.
