GDA announces to support PTI in NA speaker, deputy speaker elections
The polling will be held on August 15 during NA session.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) on Tuesday has announced to support Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidates Asad Qaisar and Qasim Khan Suri for National Assembly speaker and deputy speaker polls.
Former National Assembly speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza assured to take every step to strengthen Pakistan while Ghous Baksh Mehar clarified to back PTI at every forum.
Earlier today, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Syed Khurshid Shah has submitted his nomination papers for the election of speaker National Assembly while PTI Qasim Khan Suri also submitted his papers for the slot of the NA deputy speaker.
The polling will be held on August 15 during NA session.
It is to be mentioned here that outgoing NA speaker Ayaz Sadiq administered oath to 331 MNAs-elect in the 342-member house during 15th session.
On the occasion, strict security arrangements were made as at least a thousand security men were deployed in and outside the parliament building.
The Constitution makes it mandatory to convene NA session within 21 days of general elections.
