PA: Imran Khan picks Dost Mazari as nominee for deputy speaker

The session of PA is scheduled to take place at 10AM on Aug 15.

(Dunya News) –PM-designate and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Monday nominated Dost Mazari for slot of Punjab Assembly’s deputy speaker.

Mazari has won election from PP-297 Rajanpur-V constituency of Punjab Assembly (PA) by amassing as many as 56,113 votes.

The session of PA is scheduled to take place at 10AM on Aug 15. MPAs-elect will take oath in this inaugural session. After oath ceremony, newly elected MPAs will go into voting for selection of PA speaker and deputy speaker on Aug 16.

Once aforementioned procedure is completed, the House will elect new chief minister via secret ballot.

It would be suffice here to say that PTI has already nominated Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) chief Pervez Elahi as PA speaker.

Members of the National Assembly and the other three provincial assemblies took their oath of office earlier today.
