Imran Khan delays announcing nominee for Punjab CM's slot

Khan-led PTI will form government in the Punjab for the first time in countrys recorded history.

(Dunya News) – As Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leaders succumbed to the number game in Punjab, whole nation is looking forward towards PM-in-waiting Imran Khan for the nominee of Punjab Chief Minister.

As per details garnered, as many as 20 MPAs-elect (member of provincial assembly) has formally joined ranks of cricket-turned-politician Imran Khan. Furthermore, Pervez Elahi-led Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) has also pledged alliance to Khan. As per these developments, party’s tally in Punjab has soared to 151, two more than the magical figure of simple majority.

With 129 seats in Punjab Assembly, PML-N enjoys slander lead over PTI but inclusion of independent lawmakers have swung the political battle in latter’s favor. It would be suffice here to say that Khan-led PTI will form government in the Punjab for the first time in country’s recorded history.


Potential nominees for Punjab CM’s slot


Aleem Khan, Yasmin Rashid, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Mian Mehmood ur Rashid, Mian Aslam Iqbal and Fawad Chaudhry are six candidates for key chief minister of Punjab position.

However, the final decision has been left to Imran Khan to choose chief minister of Punjab.


PML-N deplores horse trading in Punjab


Earlier, today, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif chaired a huddle of parliamentary party and urged Hamza Shehbaz to lead opposition in Punjab Assembly. It was also decided by the top brass that Shehbaz Sharif will be appointed as opposition leader in National Assembly (NA).

Lambasting PTI for disrespecting the PML-N’s mandate, Hamza regretted that Khan-led party was setting a wrong precedent. “Despite all engineering, PML-N remains the lead party in Punjab”, claimed Hamza


Fawad claims to meet required numbers


Fawad Ch has on Monday claimed to have secured majority in both Centre and Punjab and has announced to form government.

Fawad stated that PTI has obtained support of as many as 168 lawmakers in National Assembly and 180 lawmakers in Punjab Assembly.

Fawad stated that Imran Khan will name Punjab Chief Minister, however, he avoided to disclose the name.

He further told reporters that Pakistan Muslim League Quaid’s (PML-Q) leaders Ch Shujat and Pervez Elahi called on PM-in-waiting Imran Khan at his residence in Bani Gala and pledged their alliance. “PML-Q will be part of coalition governments in Centre and Punjab”, he added.
