Shehbaz inquires after Nawaz's health at PIMS

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif on Monday arrived at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to inquire after the health of Nawaz Sharif.
According to sources, the former Punjab chief minister had a meeting with Nawaz Sharif that lasted for about 15 minutes. Two men accompanied Shehbaz to the building but were not allowed to enter Nawaz’s ward.
Doctors at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) earlier suggested that Nawaz Sharif be shifted to another hospital, insisting a proper treatment is not impossible due to lack of medical history.
Nawaz, 68, was shifted to PIMS from Adiala jail after doctors expressed concern over his health, saying he may be suffering from a heart problem.
The medical board headed by Dr Ejaz Qadeer and comprising cardiologist Dr Naeem Malik, Medical Specialist Dr Shaji Siddiqui, neurologist Dr Sohail Tanvir and Dr Mashood carried out medical checkup of the former PM after he complained about pain in his arm and chest.
“After initially refusing to be shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences ... Sharif agrees to be treated outside prison after consulting with his personal doctor,” said a PML-N tweet on Sunday night.
Caretaker Punjab Home Minister Shaukat Javed said on state-run Pakistan Television (PTV) that doctors had advised his transfer to hospital after an electrocardiogram had shown "variations".
The Islamabad chief commissioner declared the private room of cardiac ward in PIMS where Nawaz Sharif was shifted as sub-jail. Doctors also carried out his medical tests and said the reports were due in the evening.
They suggested the former prime minister should be shifted to the hospital which carried out his open-heart surgery as PIMS staff had no record of Nawaz Sharif’s medical history.
Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam were arrested on July 13, minutes after they returned from Britain seeking to revitalise their flagging PML-N party ahead of the July 25 election.
An anti-corruption court sentenced him on July 6 to 10 years while his daughter and political heir was sentenced to seven years over the purchase of luxury flats in London in the 1990s.
They were moved to Adiala jail in the garrison town of Rawalpindi.
