Election 2018: Labourers wait for a messiah to uplift their living standard

The successive governments utterly failed concerning curtailing the unemployment rate.

(WebDesk/DunyaNews) - Amid the hustle and bustle of General Election 2018, there is a segment of society that is waiting for a messiah who could uplift their economic standard, and that is of labourers. Karachi being the economic hub of the country could not fulfil the economic needs of the people, dejectedly. The successive governments utterly failed concerning curtailing the unemployment rate. The labourers, the poor of the society, under the banner of change attach high hopes with the upcoming elections. They are in fact waiting for real change.


According to them, the government changes but their economic condition remains the same.





They further opine that political parties talk of the rights of the labourers but as they come into power, their preferences change. Although the labourers are not jubilant with the prevailing situation, they have pinned hopes on the upcoming government. They, in spite of being deceived multiple times are still waiting for hope, a real change indeed.

Various parties of Pakistan have announced their manifestoes and vowed to curtail poverty through diverse means.

PML-N and PTI, more interested in public-private partnership

PTI in its manifesto, for instance, has announced creating ten million jobs. In this regard, it would join hands with private organizations. It firmly that public-private partnership can realize the set objective. PTI is further ambitious and wants to construct five million homes for the poor too.

On the other side, PML-N, in its manifesto, is determined to create 100,000-200,000 jobs. Shahbaz Sharif also focused over the private sector and affirmed to join hands with it to create jobs. He further elaborated that he would ease up the process of doing business in the country, especially by reducing the cost of factors of production.

After Benazir income support card, PPP is willing to issue Benazir Kissan Card

PPP is more interested in issuing Benazir Kissan Card and giving subsidies to the famers. It has also made a slogan to construct houses for the poor.

It is time which will explore how real these promises are. The concrete challenge will be for PTI. If it wins, it will have to live up to the expectations of the people as they have high hopes with this new party. People have tested PML-N and PPP before and would like real change to upturn their living standard under the next government. At the moment, the unemployed labourers are hopeful.
