KARACHI (Dunya News) – Enraged residents of Karachi’s Bihar Colony pelted stones at motorcade of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

As per details garnered, the locals—enraged by incessant water shortages—took to the streets and pelted stones at Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s convoy. The women also took part in the protest. Some protesters also resorted to vandalism and broke window of the vehicle.

Later, Bilawal’s stalwarts came to his rescue and pelted stones back at the protesters. Additional contingent of police have been summoned to control the situation.

Police resorted to baton-charge to disperse the angry protesters. At least one member of the PPP was injured in the clashes and rushed to hospital for treatment.

Speaking to media, DIG South Javed Alam stated that a group attempted to bar PPP from carrying out rally in the area and violated electoral code of conduct. He further added that Bilawal Bhutto had been rescued safely.

Bilawal Bhutto’s spokesperson Mustafa Nawaz Khokar stated that those practicing politics of violence can’t halt our path. He said, “We responded to violence by political process. Tensions in area will rise if violence isn’t halted at earliest”.

Nawaz made it overtly clear that Bilawal Bhutto can’t be intimidated by those who practice politics of violence.
