Election 2018: Masses questioning politicians for their performance

Dunya News

Even people could not spare a chance holding PTI electables accountable.

(WebDesk) - Throughout the dictatorial and democratic regime, people in all provinces of Pakistan have been living a pitiful life. Living such life is not that miserable than not inquiring the public representatives and holding them accountable.

Just recently, a number of videos inquiring politicians about their performance surfaced over the social media. They indeed shook some and relieved many. The latest incident happened with Khurshid Shah who was asked questions regarding his performance for a decade at least. The voter bluntly grieved about the absence of any road, school, and heath facility in the area. Khurshid Shah instead of interpolating his performance pacifically ignored him.

Watching people asking questions so bravely is purely a democratic thing which should have been in practice since the inception of Pakistan.

Even former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had to face severe criticism from angry mob when he visited Kahuta to pursue his political campaign. People asked him to explain his performance. The ex-PM was welcomed with ‘go Abbasi go’ slogan. Indeed he never expected that.

PTI’s electables are not in exception either

Even people could not spare a chance criticising PTI’s so-called electables. The newly-joined electable of PTI former federal minister Sikandar Bosan was taken aback when he visited his constituency in Multan after a long period of time. Again people asked the same question from him. They wanted to know what their political representatives did for the area particularly.

They even chanted the slogans of lota! lota! and chor! chor!.

Sikandar Bosan is already under severe criticism from the side of his opponents from his newly-elected party PTI who kept on staging protest against him until PTI withdraws the national assembly ticket of NA-154, issued to him earlier.

Former Sindh chief minister Murad Ali Shah’s visit to his constituency also turned into a commotion when Shah stepped out of his residence, a constituent questioned him about what he did for the people. “My father was an ardent PPP worker but you did nothing for us,” he asserted. Shah tried to avert the question but the man kept insisting for an answer. Unable to get a chance to speak, the former Sindh chief minister walked off and even asked a journalist making a video of the incident to stop doing so. However, when the journalist did not listen, Shah hit the camera with his hand.

Amid other havoc wedges the star anchor apart from secret marriage sensational revelation ahead of elections 2018, voters are also grilled and chanted slogans against him in a recent visit to his constituency for a regular election campaigning.

Politicians, who never expected that, are under the severe criticism from the masses which is now sick of hallow slogans and want practical solutions to their issues. The most interesting thing about these incidents was that they mostly occurred in those areas which have been neglected for years. These areas are also suffering from worst form of feudalism.

People never dared question their political chieftains in these areas. The current masses’ accountability drive against the members of all three major parties will not only strengthen the democracy but also give the masses an edge over their politicians. Resultantly, they would be able ask questions from their public representatives without any hesitation, a practice common in strong and sustainable democracies around the world.
