Clearing and search operation of Frontier Corps Madadgar center is underway

QUETTA (Dunya News) – Security forces on Thursday foiled a major terror attack at Frontier Corps’ (FC) Madadgar Centre near Chaman Housing Scheme in the provincial capital.

In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), all five suicide bombers who tried to enter the Madadgar center were killed. Apparently they seem to be Afghan citizen.

“Four FC personnel who sustained injuries were admitted to CMH Quetta,” the statement added.

Clearing and search operation of Frontier Corps Madadgar center is underway.

Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti had confirmed the reports of the attack but said it was premature to call it a suicide attack.

On April 24, three suicide bombers attacked police and paramilitary soldiers in the southwestern city of Quetta, killing six police and wounding 15 members of the security forces.

One bomber detonated his explosives near a police truck, provincial police chief Moazzam Jah Ansari said. Seven police officers were wounded in that attack. “It is a suicide attack, and we have a confirmation that six of our police officials are dead,” Ansari said.

Resource-rich Balochistan, which borders Afghanistan and Iran, has also been plagued by terrorism that has led to thousands of casualties since 2004.

Quetta is the capital city of the southwestern province of Balochistan, which has been plagued by violence.
