The ATC judge approved bail plea against surety bonds of Rs 0.5 million

QUETTA (Dunya News) – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Quetta approved the bail plea of Balochistan lawmaker Majeed Achakzai who is accused of killing the traffic sergeant in accident.

The ATC judge Dawood Nasir heard the case today and approved bail plea against surety bonds of Rs 0.5 million from the member of provincial assembly (MPA) Majeed Achakzai. The next hearing of the traffic sergeant Haji Attaullah murder case will be held on February 8.

The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) leader, who is facing charges of crushing a traffic police official to death by his vehicle, was directed by the court to submit surety bonds worth five hundred thousand rupees.

The incident had earlier occurred on Quetta’s GPO Road and Majeed Achakzai’s pictures surfaced on the incident place. The official named Haji Attaullah was killed and two others sustained injuries in the crash.

The CCTV video of the killing of traffic sergeant in vehicular accident had become viral on social media. Achakzai was caught and arrested after the accident. Supreme Court Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar had taken suo moto action of the incident.

Majeed Achakzai was arrested from his residence in Satellite Town area afterwards and a case had been registered against him while he was locked at the Civil Lines Police Station. The MPA was also sent on a five-day judicial remand by the ATC.

On the other hand, hearing of the case on keeping explosives was also held in the court in which former nominated provincial minister Gazain Marri appeared in the court. The hearing was postponed till January 19 due to non-submission of the challan.
