Dubai's economy depends heavily on tourism, and New Years is one of the busiest seasons.

DUBAI (Web Desk) - The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs of Dubai has refuted rumours regarding suspension of visit visas for Pakistanis.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, the GDRFA said "visitors from Pakistan are welcome to enter Dubai after obtaining a visa".

"The situation is normal," the official said.

Visitors have also been advised not to fall for rumours and always verify news with official UAE or Dubai government agencies.

FAKE NOTICE

In what seems like an attempt to overshadow Pakistanis’ New Year celebration plans in Dubai, a fake notice of the UAE General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs went viral on Tuesday.

"The ministry and immigration of UAE has temporarily suspended issuance of UAE visa for Pakistanis. Those who have visa already can travel," the fake notice said.

The rumour was also picked up a private TV channel.

NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS
