(Dunya News) – According to Sindh Building Control Authority’s (SBCA) recently released list of dangerous buildings, 353 of Karachi’s constructions are in worst structural conditions.

While owing to their weak structures, hundreds of buildings have been labeled ‘dangerous’, thousands of the buildings’ residents seem to be in a helpless condition.

The authorities on the other hand seem to have forgotten the collapsing incident that took place in Liaquatabad four months ago claiming innocent lives.

The SBCA rather than taking precautionary measures has labeled another 48 buildings ‘dangerous’, adding to the previous 305 structures.

Wasim Akhtar, Mayor Karachi has also expressed concern over the negligence of the concerned authorities.

According to sources, the government putting down SBCA’s advices to provide the residents of the old, weak buildings with alternate abodes has also made the SBCA authorities disinterested in the matter.
