Ghotki teachers were protesting outside Sindh Assembly over non-payment of their salaries

KARACHI (Dunya News) – A group of teachers from Ghotki were baton-charged by police troops called to disperse their protest outside the Sindh Assembly over the non-payment of salaries.

Both male and female teachers were stopped by the police from entering the parliament. The participants were holding the flags of ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Sindh. Some female teachers were even beaten up and stuffed inside the police vans by female police officials.

The protestors claimed that they have neither been paid salaries for the last five years nor made permanent by the authorities. They were assured to be given salaries in September but that didn’t happen. The teachers demanded the Sindh government of making them permanent employees and issuing all salaries.

They made an appeal to the provincial government to make their positions permanent and take accountable those who offer jobs in return for bribe.

On the other hand, a four-member team of MQM-P leaders met the protestors and assured them to solve their issues. MQM-P leader Waqar Shah stated that he will raise his voice for these protestors at all forums.
