Special Home Secretary Punjab Dr. Shoaib presented Model Town Incident report on court's order

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court has rejected government’s pretext of not presenting the Model Town Incident report. A three member full bench under the supervision of Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh proceeded hearing of government’s intra court appeal against single bench’s decision to surface the judicial inquiry report regarding the Model Town incident.

Government’s lawyer presented lawyer Khawaja Haris’s busy schedule as a pretext of not presenting the report. However, Additional Secretary presented the report on court’s order.

Barrister Ali Zafar representing the victims of Model Town incident argued that the report regarding Model Town Incident is public document rather than governmental one and it is government’s responsibility to present the report.

He reasoned that article 19-A allows every citizen to have access to information. The court, while directing Barrister Ali Zafar to continue his arguments, postponed the hearing to November 16.
