SC CJ gave remarks that Imran Khans accountability went beyond the required procedure

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Imran Khan disqualification case hearing took place again today in SC.

Khan s lawyer presented further documents in the apex court in response to questions but Hanif Abbasi’s counsel argued that no documents or evidence have any value after the court hearing has already been concluded, to which, Chief Justice remarked that the hearing has not yet been concluded since Imran Khan’s accountability went beyond the required procudure, regardless if he could defend his case.

Hanif Abbasi’s lawyer Akram Sheikh said that Imran Khan changed his stance in the 8th written statement contradicting the 7 previous statements, to which, Chief justice reasoned that Imran Khan’s arguments will be evaluated based on the new documents. “We avoid hearing political cases while this one was considered because it is the matter of dishonesty and corruption so the court cannot give a decision before satisfaction in case evaluation,” he added.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial stressed that new statement shows Imran Khan received 40,000 pounds and 42,000 euros separately.

Lawyer Sheikh decided to file a court petition against the contradiction in Imran Khan’s new and previous statements. However, Chief Justice argued that the contradiction might be due to the different questions posed at the defence still, the possibility of deception cannot be ignored.

The court  was adjourned and further hearing has been postponed until the end of this week.
