Anti-dengue measures in Peshawar paying off

Dengue larva has reduced 75 percent in Pishtakhara, and 34 percent in Sufaid Dheri.

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The anti-dengue measures in Peshawar are paying off as entomologists of University of Peshawar (UoP) have presented a report to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government in which it has been stated that dengue mosquitos have started to reduce in the city.

The experts conducted surveys in the areas of Sufaid Dheri and Pishtakhara, and found out a significant amount of decrease in dengue larva. Dengue mosquitos were found in hundred percent houses of Pishtakhara one-and-half-month ago.

According to details, the larva has reduced 75 percent in Pishtakhara, and 34 percent in Sufaid Dheri. Dengue is present in 687 homes out of 2600 in Pishtakhara, and in 387 houses out of 2620 in Sufaid Dheri.

The district administration is working to completely eliminate the larva from the locale, and has informed that last phase of anti-dengue campaign in the city is underway. Dengue larva from 96,000 homes will be destroyed during the operation.
