Pakistan army had denied reports that claimed the strikes to have targeted Haqqani compound in Pak

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Mastermind of deadly attacks on Army Public School in Peshawar and Bacha Khan University Umar Mansoor was reported killed on Wednesday after he was injured in United States drone strikes in Afghanistan.

Mansoor was wanted for masterminding attack on Army Public School on December 16, 2017 that martyred over 140 people, mostly young students and that on Bacha Khan University in January .

United States had carried out air strikes using an unmanned aircraft in Khost and Paktia areas of Afghanistan that killed over 30 terrorists, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations.

Reports have claimed that Usman Mansoor has been named factions commander of Peshawar and Darra Adam Khel after Mansoors killing.

Media cell of Pakistan army had denied reports on Tuesday that claimed the strikes to have targeted Haqqani compound in Pakistan.

“There has been no air violation along Pak-Afg border in that area nor any drone strike in Kurram Agency as being misreported by few. Based on timely sharing, Pakistan Army is vigilant as Anvil on own side along Pak-Afghan border,” ISPR reported.

Then prime minister Nawaz Sharif lifted moratorium on death penalties following the attack and military courts were established to try hardcore terrorists for speedy convictions.

Political parties struck a consensus over forming a National Action Plan that would see registration of seminaries across Pakistan, ramping up of  cleansing operation  among different steps to rid the country of insurgency.

A large-scale army operation called Zarb-e-Azb was launched in 2014 by then military chief General (r) Raheel Sharif in Federally Administered Tribal Areas and the army had stated following Army Public School attack that a  reaction was expected .
