Disrupting terrorist links: KU Student records to be scrutinized by authorities

(Dunya News) – With reports of students from Karachi University being associated with terrorist organisations emerging, the authorities have decided to launch an operation which will include scrutiny of records and a detailed examination of student organisations active in seven public as well as private sector universities of Karachi. Assistance from special branch is also being considered.

According to the investigators, the existence of a network affiliated with ‘Hizb ul Tahreer’, a militant organisation, has already been discovered within different universities of Karachi.

In order to enter the premises of Karachi University, the students will have to submit a clearance certificate issued by the local police.

Dr. Ajmal Khan, Vice Chancellor of Karachi University will be holding a meeting in reference to the execution of the orders by the city’s administration. According to the Vice Chancellor, the approval will be given by the academic council. He also said that the university’s administration is considering handing over student records to the concerned security and intelligence officials.

It is also reported that intelligence officials have also met the Chairman of Karachi University’s Applied Physics Department, and have interrogated him regarding the recently absconded Abdul Karim, who is reportedly an offender.
