WASHINGTON (Dunya News) - The United States has said on Wednesday that Pakistan has to do more for stability in Afghanistan.

During a press briefing in Washington, spokesperson for the US Department of State Heather Nauert acknowledged Pakistan’s strategic importance in the region.

She emphasized on diplomatic and political process for establishing peace in Afghanistan.

Nauert notified that no talks have yet been held with Pakistan regarding the installation of a fence on Pak-Afghan border.

“We haven’t had conversations with the Pakistani Government about that idea or that proposal. We continue to support practical cooperation between both of the countries,” she said.

The spokesperson told that decision to deploy additional troops in Afganistan will be from Pentagon and not State Department.

Nauert said that their policy on that has not changed in terms of Kashmir. “We continue to encourage the sides to sit down and talk together about that.
