PTI walks out from NA as their proposed amendments were not included in the approved bill.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Electoral Reforms Bill 2017 was passed on Tuesday by National Assembly after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) walked out of the National Assembly as their suggested amendments were not included in the bill, reported Dunya News.

Shafqat Mehmood, PTI’s member of the national assembly, said that PTI walked out of the parliament because their proposed amendments were not included in the bill.

According to the summary of the bill available with Dunya news, following changes are proposed:

1. Constituency boundaries will be revised after every census.

2. Petitions about electoral concerns will be heard on daily basis.

3. Interim government will not have a say in deciding bigger policies.

4. Political parties will be required to give at least 5% tickets to women on national and provincial assembly General seats.

5. Election Commission will devise the election plan six months prior to the general elections.

6. The bill suggests taking relevant steps to improve female voter turnout during elections.

7. Political parties will not be allowed to take funds from illegal sources.
