(Web Desk) - Dr. Ruth Pfau fondly known as ‘Pakistan’s Mother Teresa, passed away on August 10 in Karachi. She was 87 years old. Dr. Pfau was a German-Pakistani doctor dedicated her life to helping leprosy patients in Pakistan. Founder of Marie Adelaide Leprosy Center (MALC), Dr. Pfau was laid to rest on Saturday in Gora Qabaristan following a state funeral. Catholic bishop of the Karachi diocese, Joseph Coutts, presided over the mass of Dr. Pfau at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. Her funeral was attended by government officials including President Mamnoon Hussain, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah and Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair. Foreign dignitaries including officials from the German Consulate in Karachi were also present at the funeral. Chief of Army Staff Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman and Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) Vice Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, also attended the funeral.
