Saggian blast: Policemen deployed at checkpoints to be interrogated

CTD has killed as many as four terrorists during an encounter near Saggian Bridge.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The security officers, who were deployed at nearby checkpoints when a truck full of fruits exploded on Lahore’s Saggian Road, will be interrogated.

Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) lodged an FIR of the blast under the sections of Terrorism Act, Explosive Act, murder and attempt to murder against unknown terrorists. It was also stated in the case that the explosion was carried out only to afraid the people.

On the other hand, CTD has killed as many as four terrorists during an encounter near Saggian Bridge while three managed to flee the scene. The officers have also confiscated explosives.

On Monday night, at least one person was killed while 39 others were wounded in a truck bomb blast at the Bund Road in Lahore. The powerful explosion destroyed a nearby building and damaged several vehicles.

The explosive material was planted inside a truck which was loaded with fruit and parked at the busy Bund Road for at least three days. Residents of the area alleged that police were informed about the suspicious vehicle but no action was taken.

It should be noted that Lahore has been hit twice within around two weeks.
