Military dictators committed worst form of oppression: Khurshid Shah
Opposition Leader said Musharraf enforced the 'rule of jungle' as military dictator
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Addressing to the National Assembly session, Opposition Leader Khurshid Shah said that ex-President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s statements have humiliated the democratic process, institutions and constitution. He rejected the notion as wrong which should be opposed on all forums and platforms.
The former president claimed that the civilian governments had derailed the country while Martial Laws were rightly imposed because military dictators restored the country back on track.
Shah said that dictators usurped the rights of people and committed acts of injustice and oppression which led to disunity and discontentment, causing the fall of united Pakistan. He further commented that military dictators always inflicted harm, disharmony and loss as they seek legitimacy of their actions through state s participation in wars, waged for the vested interests.
He elaborated that the people have long suffered from the militarism of military dictators, who laid the base of chaos, terrorism, bias and hatred in order to support their nefarious designs.
The Opposition Leader laid a firm stance that military dictators should learn their lesson as history set a horrible example out of them. Those who had the responsibility to protect the constitution had captured the popular sovereignty through militarism for 11 years and committed oppression. These dictators are only remembered as criminals, he said.
He said that the reality of Musharraf lies in the details of what he uttered regarding civilian rule and that the statements reflects how he wants to establish the ‘rule of jungle’ once again.
