The 4-month-old underwent surgery in India after father tweeted to Swaraj and Sartaj Aziz for visas

(Web Desk) - The Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj has wished a long and healthy life to a Pakistani infant who recently underwent a heart surgery at a hospital in Noida.

In her tweets posted on Friday, Swaraj posted pictures of her meeting the four-month-old Pakistani infant Rohaan with his parents. The minister wished the baby ‘good health and long life’ in her tweets.

The case has received much media attention especially in India. The story came to light when Rohaan’s father, Kamal Siddiqui tweeted to Swaraj and Sartaz Aziz, Foreign Affairs Advisor to Pakistan PM seeking visa to be able to travel to India for the surgery. He complained that his child was ‘suffering’ due to the delay in medical treatment over tensions between the two countries. Following this the family was granted visas where Rohaan was treated successfully for the condition.

“Rohaan had a hole in his heart and the aorta - that is on the left side of the heart was coming from the right side. Pulmonary arteries were coming from the left side which was exactly the opposite of the structure of the body. Due to multiple VSD, oxygen less blood was flowing in his body and his body was turning blue,” said one of the doctors in an interview to the Indian Express. He added that as a result he would have trouble breathing and had pneumonia.

The surgery took around five hours. “The heart of my child beats today for Madam Sushma Swaraj. I would like to request her to open doors for those Pakistanis who have been waiting for medical visas. It is my humble request,” said Rohaan’s father while speaking to the Indian express after his son’s surgery. Earlier the father had tweeted a series of pictures thanking the Indian Minister and the team of doctors for the surgery.

According to Indian media, the family is expected to return to Pakistan during the next week pending approval by the doctors.
