COAS Bajwa's visit to Parachinar postponed due to bad weather

Army Chief will leave for the Kurram Agency capital right after the weather becomes clear

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has postponed his visit to the capital city of Kurram Agency, Parachinar, due to bad weather in the upper regions, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Army Chief was to spend the second day of Eid on Tuesday in Parachinar to express solidarity with the victims of the latest terrorist attack in the tribal areas where at least 45 people were killed due to market area twin blasts. Initially, 35 people were dead before 10 succumbed to injuries and lost their lives, causing a rise in the dead toll. Many of these victims have been laid to rest.

However, a large number of the victims are under medical treatment. The injured people were transferred to developed medical facilities through rescue operations by the armed forces and other organizations.

ISPR said General Bajwa will resume his Parachinar visit as soon as the weather becomes clear for helicopter flight. COAS will meet the families of Parachinar twin blasts victims and pay condolences with the families. He will pay respect to the martyrs of the terrorist attack. ISPR told General Bajwa will have a brief stay at the Kurram Agency capital.

Pakistan Army has been in constant communication with the victims of Parachinar. Army Chief said the enemy’s attempts to create sectarianism will not succed. “The nation is united as Muslims and Pakistanis,” he added.

Moreover, COAS Bajwa met with the Ulemas and asked them to play their positive role for promotion of sectarian harmony within the country. These religious scholars appreciated the role of Pakistan Army in controlling the security situation and pledged their support.
