Two blasts on Friday claimed at least 45 lives in Parachinar.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – After the Parachinar tragedy, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Saturday made telephonic contacts with Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar, Sindh Rangers Director General (DG) Major General Muhammad Saeed and Inspector General (IG) Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan Major General Nadeem Anjum, and agreed to enhance the monitoring at crossing points of Pak-Afghan border.

Chaudhry Nisar noted that whenever the crossing points are opened, the country witnesses increased acts of terrorism.

The interior minister also found details about the current incidents of terrorism, and expressed grief on the loss of precious lives. It was said that the purpose of this attack was to create a sense of uncertainty at the border.

Two blasts on Friday claimed at least 45 lives in Parachinar, the capital of Kurram district in the tribal belt, and 306 people sustained injuries. According to political administration, the first blast occurred when people were busy Eid shopping in a crowded market. When people rushed to the site of the blast to rescue the wounded, a second blast took place.

Nisar also let it be known that two terror alerts were issued before the blasts, and raised the question that why precautionary measures were not taken to avert the tragedy by the provincial government despite clear identification.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan further directed the security forces to use all state sources to determine the responsible persons of terrorism, and also to bring their facilitators to justice.

He made it clear that neither government’s efforts to curb terrorism are affected after this cowardly attack, nor the nation’s morale is lowered. It is a worrying sign to associate any terrorist activity with Pakistan without investigation, he remarked.
