Eight people have been handed to police on 4-day remand, provincial chief justice to form committee

PESHAWAR: (Dunya News) – The number of people arrested in Mashal murder case has reached 13 while four including Tehsil Councillor have been handed to police under on 4-day remand, reported Dunya News.

Peshawar High Court Chief Justice will form the committee for the judicial inquiry of the brutal lynching of the Mardan university student. Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Khattak forwarded the summary to form a judicial commission to the provincial chief justice.

Eight people had been presented before a special Mardan anti-terror court. These eight people included Tehsil Councillor and seven university employees. The suspects have been handed to the police on 4-day remand.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police IG met CM Khattak and briefed him about the progress in the investigations. Khattak ordered the arrest of all the suspects and directed him to complete the investigation quickly.

Moreover, a summary for appointing a new pro Vice Chancellor for Khan Abdul Wali Khan University has also been sent to Governor House. Advisor on High Education Mushtaq Ghani said that the appointment will be made by Monday. He said that the varsity will be reopened for classes after one week.

On the other hand, a notification issued by the university has also come to the fore. The notification issued by Assistant Registrar had announced investigations against three students and had also banned them from entering the campus. Mashal had died the same day as fellow students shot and lynched him inside the university premises.

Mardan Deputy Commissioner Imran Hamid Sheikh said that the two notifications issued by the university administration on 13th and 14th of April are also being investigated.
