Internationally blacklisted Chinese company ZTE arrives in Karachi after failure in Lahore

KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Internationally blacklisted Chinese company ZTE on Wednesday struck a deal with Sindh government. The company failed to win any projects in Lahore but succeeded in Karachi, reported Dunya News.

Karachi’s safe city project isn’t in safe hands as Sindh government has signed the agreement with a blacklisted Chinese company. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has also declared Karachi’s safe city contract as illegal.

The plan developed by the company named ZTE has been released on the website. The project worth Rs 10 billion has begun with irregularities. The terms and conditions of the contract were changed under the table in order to award the consultancy, services and feasibility to the favourite company. Other companies running for the project were kept in complete dark.

Sindh Information Technology Department’s special advisor Dr Sikandar Shoro has said that cancelling the deal isn’t easy and promised to form a committee to inquire the matter.

On the other hand, NAB has warned the authorities that they must either cancel the agreement or be ready for legal action.
