Government handling affairs of Solid Waste Management

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Mayor Waseem Akhtar has said on Friday that it would be an injustice on part of the government if he is asked to work for the betterment of the people with his  hands tied .

Akhtar convened meetings with representatives of several Non-Government Organisations (NGO) and youth groups in Karachi Municipality Corporation (KMC) building. While addressing the media later on, the Mayor of Karachi held Government of Sindh responsible dumps across the city.

He said that the government was dealing affairs of Solid Waste Management and the responsibility to rid the city of garbage lied with the department.

Akhtar said that Karachi ranked among the top ten dirtiest cities of the world which was embarrassing.

However, he hoped they would be able to give a better Pakistan to the generations to come. Waseem Akhtar further said that traders’ community would be approached if need be over development.
