PTI's protest is pointless, Shehbaz Sharif said.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday said those planning to lockdown the federal capital on November 2 are trying to ‘destroy’ Pakistan.

In a statement, Shehbaz Sharif said PTI’s protest, after the Supreme Court’s decision to hear the case, is pointless.

They will face defeat, he note, adding that people have rejected negative politics at every level.

On the other hand, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will oppose any step against democracy.

“It is PPP’s policy to follow democratic norms. The party fully opposes attack on democracy. Everyone has the right to protest but no one is allowed to violate the law and trouble people,” he told reporters after launching anti-polio campaign in Karachi’s Hyderi area.

It may be mentioned here that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has announced to lockdown Islamabad on November 2 in protest against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The PTI has been demanding the premier to either step down from his seat or present himself for accountability over the Panama Papers’ allegations.

Earlier on Sunday, Imran Khan said all his struggle is not meant for a third force to step in, however, he made it clear that the responsibility in that case would be on Nawaz Sharif if third force intervened.

Imran Khan also said all those opposition parties who are against the sit-ins are actually corrupt and know that it will be their turn after Nawaz Sharif’s arrest.
