Lavoy acknowledged sacrifices of the armed forces and the nation in war on terror

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry has said that indiscriminate action was taken against all extremist outfits in Pakistan including Haqqani network but United States did not acknowledge Pakistan’s efforts, reported Thursday.

The Foreign Secretary held a meeting with United States Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for South Asian Affairs Peter Lavoy in the federal capital and discussed bilateral relations between the two sovereign states in context of high-level political standings.

Chaudhry stressed mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries to solve different issues.

Pakistan Army eliminated terror hideouts in FATA and tribal areas, he said adding that all organised networks of terror were targeted indiscriminately including Haqqani.

The government would not allow, in any case, to let its soil be used against any country, Chaudhry stated.

Lavoy said that United States acknowledged sacrifices of the armed forces and the nation in war on terror adding that Pakistan’s role in peace restoration in Afghanistan was commendable.

The special US envoy said that both the countries, United States and Pakistan needed to continue efforts for peace and stability in the region.

Elimination of terror was in the interest of both the states, Lavoy said.
