Federal govt should pay attention to KP the same way it does to Punjab: KP Finance Minister

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Finance Minister Muzafar Syed convened Revenue department s pre-budget consultation meeting which was attended by secretaries of relevant departments and representatives of civil society on Thursday, reported Dunya News.

Addressing the meeting, Finance Secretary Ali Raza Bhutta said that development budget would not be reduced and there were chances that 80 to 85 percent of the budget would be utilised. Rather than the imposition of taxes, the government had been trying to increase income, he added.

Muzafar Syed said that federal government did not fulfill the promises and it should pay attention to KP the same way it does to Punjab.

He said that despite floods, earthquakes and terrorism, KP could produce its own resources but that would require federal government’s approval.

In the pre-budget meeting, it was briefed that in the upcoming fiscal budget, 39% of it would be allocated for incomes, 24% for development and 30% would be placed for non-development projects; while the remaining 30% would be spent through local governments.
