KARACHI (Dunya News) – Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has apprehended three target killers wanted in murders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) member Nasreen Jalil’s guard and a minor girl among three, Dunya News reported Monday.

The anti-terror department conducted an operation on a tip-off and copped a gang of target killers. Sources privy to the Counter-Terrorism Department stated that the arrested murderers opened fire on a vehicle of city wardens last month in Nagin Chowrangi.

The recent attack had claimed three lives including a minor girl.

A targeted operation is underway in Sindh’s capital since September 2013. Rangers were given special powers under the Constitution of Pakistan to rid the unrest-ridden city of crimes.

Law enforcement agencies had ramped up action against anti-state elements after seven police were shot dead last month during an anti-polio drive in different areas of Karachi.

Earlier on April 30, two most wanted target killers were arrested in the city. Intelligence agencies arrested most wanted target killer Rehan alias Top from Buffer Zone area of North Karachi.

The accused involved in ‘China-cutting’ confessed to killing more than 15 people.

The other target killer apprehended by the Counter-Terrorism Department was Zulfiqar. the criminal, belonging to an armed wing of a political party was jailed in the past but was released on parole.

Zulfiqar confessed to killing four people soon after his release.
