All named in Panama Leaks must voluntarily present themselves for accountability, says Siraj

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Friday presented its Terms of References (TORs) regarding the investigation commission that probes into the Panama Leaks. Demands regarding formation of an independent commission headed by the Chief Justice (CJ) of the Supreme Court along with restricting the investigation to the particular issue at hand have been made by Jamaat, reported Dunya News.

While addressing a press conference, JI Ameer Sirajul Haq stated that investigation against Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and his family in regards to the allegation leveled through the Panama Leaks needs to be initiated at once. He added that an independent investigation commission headed by the CJ needs to probe into the matter and investigate the local and foreign assets of the PM, his family and 200 others named in the Panama Papers along with details related to other documents, bank accounts and companies operated by these individuals. He said that the sources through which the income and assets of these individuals were increased also need to be brought forward.

He demanded that forensic audit needs to be carried out of the documents and evidences presented by the named individuals from experts inside and outside the country. Siraj added that investigation against the most authoritative should be carried out first.

“No one was able to put a hand on Musharraf. He (Musharraf) was involved in corruption mounting up to billions of rupees and he also made his property outside the country”, Siraj said. He stated that all those named in the Panama Leaks must voluntarily present themselves for accountability.
