Panama Leaks: PM forms judicial commission to investigate over allegations
PM takes nation into confidence against allegations placed upon him in Panama Leaks
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif addressed the nation on Tuesday evening and announced the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the allegations placed on him and his family through the Panama Leaks, reported Dunya News.
PM said that the judicial commission will be led by a retired judge of the Supreme Court adding that those who put up a show on daily-basis should prove their allegations before the commission and prove the truth in their statements.
PM stated that it is for the first time that he is before the people in regards to a private matter, not a public or political one, adding that some people are targeting his family and him once again and are placing accusations for political motives. He said that such allegations, which are being hyped by the media, have been circulating for 25 years, stating that he believes that he understands the politics behind such allegations quite well.
He added that his father began the family business prior to the creation of Pakistan and that one section of the business was in East-Pakistan as well. He stated that his family had to face various difficulties regarding their business during the various governments who ruled the country over the course of time.
He added that he was exhiled but even this did not demotivate them. PM said that his father took loans from Saudi banks and initiated a factory, further adding that if his children earn within the country then they get criticised and if they go abroad to run their businesses then allegations are placed on them.
He said that his son, Hussain Nawaz, has been living in Saudi Arabia since 2000 and is running his business there ever since. PM stated that he and his family have never been involved in any sort of corruption.
He added that his family has been subjected to one-sided accountability for numerous years but no one was able to prove the allegations against his family in the court.
