CNG price to reduce by Rs 2-3 per kilogram
CNG stations across Punjab and Sindh will remain open this week.
LAHORE (Web Desk) – Price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is expected to reduce by two to three rupees per kilogram across the country from next month, Dunya News reported.
According to sources, the price reduction will take place in the first week of March as first cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) will arrive in Pakistan.
CNG stations across Punjab and Sindh will remain open this week.
On the other hand, All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) has demanded that there should be a difference of 30% in the prices of petrol and CNG.
Experts have suggested that CNG stations will remain open across Punjab next winters if LNG supply continued interrupted.
Earlier this month, Qatar signed a long-term deal with Pakistan to export liquefied natural gas. The deal will see Qatar export up to 3.75 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas a year. This represents around 20 percent of the south Asian country‘s gas requirements.
The Qatar News Agency (QNA) confirmed the deal had been signed in a statement posted on its website.
Supplies of the gas could start as early as March, according to the QNA. Media reports in Pakistan estimated the deal was worth $16 billion (14 billion euros).
Pakistan currently faces a severe shortage of natural gas, both for its electricity generation and industrial use.
The deal was signed on the first day of two-day visit to Qatar by Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
