Authorities have alerted drivers travelling on M-2, M-3 and M-4 due to near zero visibility

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Life is crippled in different parts of the province on Tuesday morning as dense fog has taken the roads and localities.

Three persons were reported injured in a bus-tractor road accident in Faisalabad while motorway was shut for all kinds of traffic at different points. Traffic on GT Road was affected as visibility was reduced to 20 meters from Sahiwal to Rahim Yar Khan.

Flights schedule on Benazir International Airport was disturbed today as no flight could land the entire night after 11 pm. PK-372 which was on way to Islamabad from Karachi had to land in Lahore. The flight could not be airborne until the sun rose.

Flights arriving from Sharjah and Jeddah to Multan were delayed owing to foggy skies.

According to the details, at least 20 domestic and international flights have been delayed while five others are cancelled. Several flights have been deviated to other stations. PK-613 arriving from Dubai is delayed by as many as 14 hours while PK-231 from Abu-Dhabi by at least 12 hours.

Islamabad-bound flights arriving from Tokyo and Turkey’s Istanbul have landed at Karachi airport.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Spokesperson has said that ILS Cat-III B system has kept Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport functional amid the fog.

Authorities have issued instructions for vehicles on M-2, M-3 and M-4 to drive attentively due to near zero visibility. Visibility was reduced to 50-100 meters from Lahore to Sahiwal on National Highway.

Maximum visibility from Lahore to Rawalpindi was 50-100 meters on Motorway M-2 due to the dense fog. At M-3 from Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad maximum visibility was at 100-150 meters while at M-4 from Faisalabad to Gojra maximum visibility was 100-160 meters.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met) stated that dense fog would continue to blanket Punjab plains, upper Sindh and Peshawar division among other areas in morning and night hours for coming two to three days.
