Key MQM personality wanted to get Imran Farooq out of his way: Khalid Shamim
Suspect Mohsin admitted that Kashif attacked Farooq with the blade.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Major developments have been made in the murder case of slain Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) leader Imran Farooq.
Two prime suspects of the case, Khalid Shamim and Mohsin Ali, have confessed to the crime in front of the judicial Magistrate. Shamim admitted that influential MQM leaders wanted to get Farooq out of their way while Mohsin admitted that Kashif attacked Farooq with the blade.
According to the investigation officer, Shamim also confessed that significant personage from London asked them for planning the murder of Farooq. Other suspects Kashif, Moazzam Ali and Moshin Ali were given the responsibility of making arrangements for the killing, stated Shamim. He also revealed that the funding for the assassination was also provided by them.
Shamim further informed that Kashif and Mohsin were taken from Mohajir Student Organization Wing. Shamim stated that during this time they were in constant contact with Mohammad Anwar but not with MQM chief Altaf Hussain.
On the other hand, Mohsin admitted that they had orders to go to London for murdering somebody. They were not informed of who their target was however, stated Mohsin. Suspect Mohsin confessed that the attack on Farooq with the knife was committed by Kashif who was injured as Farooq resisted the onslaught.
After the confessions, both suspects were presented in the Anti Terrorism Court (ATC). ATC Judge Kosar Abbas Zaidi approved a 14 day judicial remand of the suspects and ordered that both suspects be brought to court again on 21st January.
