PTI's Mehr Taj appointed first woman deputy secretary in KP

PTI candidate got 70 votes while her opponent gained 37 votes

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) -- Dr. Mehr Taj Roghani of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was elected first deputy speaker of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provincial assembly as she took oath on Tuesday. Speaker of the KP Assembly canceled the vote of Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) of Awami National Party (ANP), reports Dunya News.

The fight for Deputy Speakership was contested between PTI’s Mehr Taj Roghani and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz s (PML-N) Arbab Akhtar Hayat. PTI candidate got 70 votes while her opponent gained 37 votes. After vote-count, Mehr Taj Roghani became the first female deputy speaker of the provincial assembly as she took the oath.

Earlier during the vote casting, opposition members were in protest as votes were cast after being shown. After due warning by Speaker, vote of ANP MPA Bakht Baidar was cancelled.
