ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday has summoned a list of sensitive districts in Punjab and Sindh regarding second phase of local body (LB) polls.

A meeting of the commission was chaired by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza in the federal capital today.

The commission has summoned finance secretary in controversial matter of Kissan package. The meeting was briefed about the package by secretary food and Additional Attorney General. The hearing of the matter was adjourned until November 17.

While discussing security situation for the second phase of LB elections, the authorities ordered the provinces to file list of sensitive and most sensitive constituencies. The Punjab representative told the commission that Hafizabad is the most sensitive area in the second phase.

The representative said that a clash is likely in the constituency. Similarly in Sindh, Badin and Sanghar have been termed the most sensitive areas.

Earlier in the first phase, the commission released a statement showing the number of high sensitive, sensitive and normal polling stations in Punjab and Sindh.

As per details, there are 16,266 polling stations in twelve districts including Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Chakwal, Bhakkar, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Pakpattan, Okara, Lodhran, Vehari and Bahawalnagar, out of which, 3,551 polling stations were declared high sensitive.

A total of 8,300 were declared sensitive and 4,441 polling stations were termed normal.

The statement also stated that neither any radio of television channel shall broadcast or telecast nor any print media shall publish anything that adversely affects the public opinion against a particular party or candidate.
