Number of steps taken to improve PIA's performance: minister

The minister informed senate that the government has injected Rs16 billion as cash support.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed informed on Friday told Senate that the government has taken a number of steps to improve performance of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

To a question, he said the government has injected Rs16 billion as cash support and $52 million dollars for acquiring fifteen aircraft on dry lease.

He pointed out that loss making routes both international and domestic have been suspended and aircrafts are deployed on profitable routes. 

Sheikh Aftab also reported that 26 million unverified mobile phone SIMs have been blocked during the verification process.
