The government and Palpa had held talks to resolve the clash but the negotiations failed repeatedly

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The issues between Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Pakistan Airlines Pilots’ Association (Palpa) remain unresolved on seventh day into pilots’ strike.

Several flights have been delayed today as well. After seven days of disruption in operations and functions, PIA has acquired Pakistan Navy’s help in the matter.

Earlier, the government and Palpa had held talks to resolve the clash but the negotiations failed repeatedly. The strike has cost more than Rs 40 crores to the international airlines in seven days.

More than 88 flights have been cancelled in the ongoing tensions so far.

Customers have started booking tickets of private airlines to avoid botheration at the airport. Three PIA flights have been cancelled today due to negligible number of passengers who had arrived to board. PK-373 from Islamabad to Karachi, PK-372 from Karachi to Islamabad and PK-313 from Lahore to Karachi have been cancelled.

It should be mentioned here that this is not the first time that pilots  led unions have confronted PIA with demands. In 2011, at least 400 flights were cancelled while the then managing director was removed from the post.
