Susan Rice to pay one-day emergency visit to Pakistan

Indian aggression among other matters likely to be discussed with leaders

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – United States (US) National Security Advisor Susan Rice on Sunday will pay a one-day emergency visit to Pakistan.

Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and Advisor to PM on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz will hold separate meetings with the US diplomat.

Rice is also likely to meet Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif.

The visit will see discussions on matters including Pakistan-India tensions, Afghanistan reconciliation process and defense cooperation between US and Pakistan.

The meetings will also discuss regional security in context of Pakistan-India tensions. US has shown concern regarding increased tensions between the neighbouring countries. Department of State s spokesperson John Kirby and Secretary of State John Kerry had urged Pakistan and India to bring the issues on table and solve them through talks.
