43 suspected militants killed in PAF airstrikes in NWA
The strikes targeted militant hideouts in the Gharlamai and Shawal areas.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News / Reuters) – Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets bombed militant hideouts in two different areas in northwest Pakistan near the Afghan border on Thursday, killing at least 43 suspected terrorists.
According to ISPR, the strikes targeted hideouts in the Gharlamai and Shawal areas of the North Waziristan tribal region.
Since May, the military has stepped up operations in the deeply forested ravines of the Shawal valley, which straddles the Pakistani region of North and South Waziristan along the border with Afghanistan, and is dotted with militant bases.
Pak Army recaptured most of North Waziristan during operation Zarb-e-Azb launched in June 2014. Before the operation began, the army ordered most civilians to leave.
The army s media wing said air strikes killed 18 suspected militants on Tuesday, 50 on Monday and 40 on Sunday.
Officials say more than 2,800 militants have been killed since the launch of the latest offensive.
