RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – A case on Monday has been registered against killing of Punjab s late home minister Shuja Khanzada in Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) while DNA samples of suicide attackers have been collected.
Punjab government has announced a three-day mourning in the province while the Pakistani flag is flying at half-mast in Azad Kashmir. In Attock, a case has been registered in Rangu Police Station mentioning local Station House Officer (SHO) Ghulam Shabbir as plaintiff. The case was registered under Pakistan Protection Ordinance Section 16 along with Explosive Act sections.
Preliminary investigations suggest a new method of attack in the tragic incident. The explosives did not carry ball bearings and nut bolts. Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) officials said that majority deaths in the incident were caused by roof collapse.
Initial investigations also hint involvement of as many as three banned outfits in the incident. A call has been traced by the authorities.
At least 19 are reported martyrs in the attack in Shadi Khan Village. The late home minister was meeting with the locals who had come to offer condolences of his cousin’s demise. Eye witnesses say they saw Khanzada shook hand of a person who had just arrived and got him seated next to him and after one to two minutes the bomb went off.
Punjab Police Inspector General (IG) Mushtaq Sukhera said that one of the bombers exploded close to the wall which caused roof to collapse. Rescue teams reached the scene after learning about the news.
