Green Line Train fares would be charged on stop to stop basis, said Khawaja Saad Rafique

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Railways signed an agreement with American company regarding the acquisition of 55 diesel engines worth Rs 27 billion 500 million rupees on Saturday. Federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that 70% of engines will be used to provide power houses with coal, reported Dunya News.

An agreement was signed in Railway headquarters Lahore between an American company and Pakistan Railways regarding acquisition of 55 locomotive engines.

The American company will start supplying the engines in 16 months. Locomotives engine will be used in coal operations in Sahiwal and Jamshoro.

Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said that while new locomotives are being imported, older ones are also being modified to run on electricity.

Saad Rafique assured that there would be no increase in fares.

Khawaja Saad Rafique said that employees ranging from grade 1 to grade 16 will have their service structure restructured.

He further added that Green Line Train fares would be charged on stop to stop basis.
