PM stresses need to make Gwadar port duty-free
Motorway projects would also be completed within the government's tenure, says Nawaz
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Thursday has stressed the need to make Gwadar a duty-free port. He said that the government would put an end to electricity outages within three years.
He expressed these views while addressing participants of the National Assembly (NA) session in the capital.
The PM said that the government would put an end to electricity outages within as many as three years while several motorway projects would also be completed within the government’s tenure. He stressed the need to make Gwadar a duty-free port like the Gulf countries. Nawaz said that it would have been better if the motorway to Karachi was constructed in Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government.
He does not think 18-hour long outages are being conducted anywhere in the country now, he added. The PM turned to PPP’s Nawab Wassan and said that the energy crisis would end within three years.
PM Nawaz said that it was his utmost desire to complete motorway in 1990.
After PM’s brief address, opposition leader in the NA Khursheed Shah said that the people of the country used to believe that after Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) comes in power there would be an uninterrupted power supply round the clock. Outages are being carried out in the places where people are not used to paying bills, PM responded.
